Hearing that your child needs glasses can feel like a lot. The good news: kids adjust fast, often faster than adults. The trick is to choose a pair they like and that can survive the playground.
Let them choose the colour
Children wear what they love. Give them two or three frames that fit well and let them pick the colour. A pair they chose is a pair they will keep on.
What to check before you buy
- Flexible hinges that bend outward without breaking.
- Light, strong material like TR90 that handles drops and squeezes.
- A snug fit at the nose and ears so the frame doesn't slide while they run.
- Shatter-resistant lenses such as polycarbonate for safety.

Kids' eyes need UV protection outdoors too.
Parent tip: Buy a bright case and keep it in the school bag. Glasses that have a home are much less likely to get lost.
